Peru Adventure Tour

  • The Peru Adventure tour combines several highlights of Peru: a unique Machu Picchu hiking tour including Huchuy Qosqo, Lake Titicaca and its fascinating floating islands, the impressive Sacred Valley with Pisaq and Ollantaytambo as well as the impressive Tambopata River, which crosses the National Park of Tambopata and Candamo in the Amazon basin that contains rapids and wildlife with more than 1,690 species of flora and fauna. This is without a doubt an authentic adventure experience.

  • Peru Adventure Tour – Itinerary

    Day 1: Lima

    Your adventure tour will start when you arrive to Lima airport. If you wish we can arrange an airport pickup (though not included in the price).

    Overnight in Lima.

    Day 2: Cusco

    After breakfast our private van will take you to the airport to catch your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco you’ll be welcomed by our River Explorers representative who will take you to your hotel.

    At the hotel you’ll receive a short briefing about your next days on your Peru adventure tour.

    Optional activities are available as,

    Cusco city tour, horse back riding, mountain biking.

    Day 3-5: Huchuy Qosqo Trek- Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu

    This journey is a hiking through beautiful rocky narrow trails and ravines mixed with the charm of Andean villages and crops until Huchuy Qosqo. The traditions, tales and legends about this archaeological complex are of importance and power in the Andean cosmology.

    Included in this hiking is a one night’s camping under thousands of stars in the heart of this complex. The landscapes are astounding and decorated with deep valleys, natives, and impressive mountains. This part of the tour also includes a guided tour to the ancient Inca sites of Ollantaytambo and Pisaq. Machu Picchu is the most important site to visit in our Peru adventure tour, where you will have a full guided tour.

    Machu Picchu was a remote small city built high in the Andes Mountains; it had an organized society with services and goods, taxes, and military. There are over 160 buildings, including houses, palaces and temples.

    After this tour, you will be back in Cusco.

    Overnight: one night in tent – one night in a hotel in Aguas Calientes.

    Day 6: Bus to Puno

    Luxury tour bus with panoramic views of the Andes and the flat lands to Puno. The splurge six hour drive includes beverages, buffet lunch with an English speaking tour guide, who explains about sites that are shortly visited during the route.

    In Puno, you will be transferred to your hotel to rest for the night.

    Puno is the center of the Aymara culture in Peru, it contains  two thousand years of history, from the Pukará to the Colla culture.

    Day 7: Lake Titicaca tour

    A full day boat trip to Lake Titicaca, a unique tour destination. This tour offers a visit to the Amantani island where you will experience local farming, cuisine and learn their village traditions and customs. Enjoy a typical lunch with outstanding vistas of the lake plus a tour to Uros islands. These islands are made out from the totora reeds which provide home and transportation for the inhabitants.

    After this tour you will be transferred to Juliaca to rest for the night.

    Overnight: Hotel in Juliaca.

    Day 8 – 16: Tambopata Candamo – Amazon Jungle Rafting

    Tambopata rafting is with no doubt the best expedition trip in our Peru adventure tour.

    The Tambopata River crosses the regions of Madre de Dios, Puno and a small section of Bolivia. Tambopata Candamo is a nature reserve in the Peruvian Amazon Basin. The national reserve was created on January 26, 199o in order to protect the forests of Tambopata.

    The Tambopata National Reserve is home to a vast number of fauna species as well as of animal species. It has two important ecosystems and are surprisingly  for its biodiversity.

    The Tambopata National Reserve offer the best chance to preserve viable populations of a vast number of animals. Tambopata – Candamo is also  well known as having a large diverse fauna and flora with several endemic species.

    The only access to the river is from Juliaca, Puno – it takes 10 hours driving through scenic roads with astonishing vistas of the mountains and the Amazon jungle.

    The first day, we will raft on the river for a couple of hours until we reach our first camp.

    Day 9-12: River Rafting Tambopata

    We will enjoy 3 days of whitewater rafting with level III and IV rapids. There will be chances to see a variety of fauna and flora while traversing the challenging rapids of the river.

    There are no any other Peru adventure tour that will take you into the most remote area of the Amazon Jungle.

    Overnight: Camping in tents

    Meals included: 1 breakfast – 1 lunch – 1 dinner.

    Day 13: Amazon Jungle – Tambopata

    This section of the river is calm, so we can enjoy the Tambopata’s wildlife. You will be able to see hoatzin, caiman and horned screamer, tapirs and the giant river otter in their natural habitat, one of the highlights of this Peru Adventure tour.

    Overnight: Camping in tents

    Meals included: 1 breakfast – 1 lunch – 1 dinner.

    Day 14: Tabara river

    At the Tabara River a motorboat will take us to our campsite.

    Overnight: Camping in a lodge.

    Meals included: 1 breakfast – 1 lunch – 1 dinner.

    Day 15: Macaw clay lick

    On the last day we will wake up early to see the macaw clay lick: at a mud wall by the river many birds congregate every day to feed off the nutrients of the mud. After this fascinating sight we will continue our trip for 3 hours more until we arrive at Puerto Maldonado where we will spend the night in a lodge.

    Overnight: Camping in a lodge.

    Meals included: 1 breakfast – 1 lunch – 1 dinner.

    Day 16: Lima

    After amazing days enjoying fascinating views of the Amazon jungle, our private van will take us to the airport to take a flight to Lima where you can catch your flight  to your country home. If desired, we can organize an extra night in Lima. You can finish your Peru adventure tour with a nice Peruvian lunch in Lima.

    Meals Included: All breakfasts, 8 lunches and 6 dinners.

    Transfers: All transfers during your trip after your arrival, except the transfer between airport and hotel after arrival in Lima and before departure from Peru on the last day. This can be arranged on request for a cost of 20 U$ dollars per person.

Meals (8 breakfast, 7 lunches, 7 dinners). Double tents, safety and professional river system, satellite phone for emergencies, private round-trip transportation, video and picture service, complete First aid kit, one night hostal at Puerto Maldonado.

    Group leader: We provide a guide who will assist you in each city of the trip who will provide information and tips during your Peru Adventure tour.

    What’s not included?

    As on many other Peru adventure tours, hotels and meals during the days that passengers want to stay in Cusco, Puno or any of the cities, instead of continuing with the trips.

    Transfer from the Airport to the hotel the day of your arrival and the last day before leaving Peru. This can be arranged at a cost of 20 USD dollars per person.

    City tour or any other activities not mentioned in the tour description.

    Sleeping bags during the trekking tours (you may rent for 4 dollars a day).

    What to bring

    To enjoy your Peru Adventure tour it is very important to remember all the things mentioned below;

    Travel documents: passport, visas, travel insurance certificate, flight tickets (with photocopies).

    Sleeping bag (may rent for 4 USD per day), inflatable mattress (may rent for $4 USD per day) torch/flashlight, lightweight long trousers (for evening), shorts, fleece/thermal top, T-shirts, bathing suit, sandals, personal items: eco-friendly toiletries (bio-degradable – no pollutants please!), hat, sunblock, insect repellent.

    Yellow vaccination certificates required. There is no record of malaria in the area but we recommend bringing pills to prevent infection on all Peru adventure tours involving tours to the Amazon Jungle.

    Money: traveler’s cheques/cash/credit or debit card, money belt.

    Binoculars, photo or video camera, cover for backpacks, fleece top, windproof/waterproof jacket, small towel and swim wear, 4 shirts/t-shirts, fleece top, sun hat, 1 pair of shorts, 2 pairs of long trousers, 1 pair hiking pants/track pants, hiking boots/ sturdy walking shoes, sport sandals, sunblock, sunglasses, watch or alarm clock, flashlight.

    Refillable water bottle and water purification tablets – no plastic water bottles are allowed on the Inca Trail. Only hard plastic or steel bottles as sold in camping stores.

    First-aid kit (should contain lip salve, aspirin, adhesive bandages, anti-histamine, Imodium or similar tablets for mild cases of diarrhea, re-hydration powder, extra prescription drugs in original pharmacy bottles).

    Small backpack to carry personal items during the day.

    For Huchuy Qosqo trek, sleeping bag (rated for -10 degrees). You can rent this for $5 USD at the office. Hiking shoes or trainers, hat, socks, warm clothes, gloves, woolen hat to cover the ears, raincoat, sunblock, flashlight, refillable water bottle and water purification tablets and other items that you consider important for this Peru adventure tour.

    Our adventure tour package price is based in a double-occupancy hotel rooms and lodges.

    If you are a solo traveler and wish to share a room, we will assign a same-sex roommate if possible.

    If you wish to have your own room, you need to pay extra to cover the expenses of the room.
