  • The thrilling Cusco horseback riding will show you Cusco in a total different way.Explore Cusco surroundings,  discover the history behind the Inca Empire and get closer to nature. Step back in time as the many Inca ruins, feeling of absolute freedom, and the sounds of nature and fresh Andean air drag you into their splendor.

  • Cusco horseback riding starts when you meet your guide at your hotel. It takes only 15 minutes drive to get to the ranch. Your guide will give you a brief pre ride introduction and then select the horses for the next 3 hours ride. We will saddle the horses up and your guide will give you an introductory ride.

Once everyone feels comfortable with the horses the riding tour begins. We will descend and climb on easy terrain for about 30 minutes until arrive to Sacsayhuaman complex. Perhaps one of the most impressive fortresses of Incas time, This impressive complex was built with gigantic rocks, many of them weighing more than 200 tons. Once your guide will finish explaining about this marvel place, we continue on riding having sweeping views of the Mountains and Cusco city as we make our way towards Kenko an enigmatic Inca temple located northeast of Cusco city. This site contents platforms, stairs and a giant carved rock with the shape of a Puma. The most intriguing element is a serpent channel cutted into the rock that served as a canal to transport water, chicha (corn beer) or blood after each ceremonial ritual.

After this, the ride is fun, nice and absolutely fantastic! We will ride for a couple of minutes and then deviate from the official main route at the top of Kenqo and then have a nice climb up the mountain. Dropping into small valley, we’ll emerge at the top of Puca Pucara complex, this place probably was a defensive wall,  built a top of a slope of a hill to protect one of the entrance to Cusco. It contents stepped terraces,  towers, walls, stairways, and corridors. The name is a Quechua word that means Red Fort.

Just few minutes away from Puca Pucara is Tambomachay, this site is mostly know as the Inca’s Bath and contents walls, stairways, 4 niches and of course 2  fountains with water running constantly, it is possibly that Tambomachay was a special place for the royals.

We’ll be riding back to the ranch on mountain terrain, surrounded by charming Andean houses, forests of eucalyptus, pine trees and colored rock mountain as the backdrop for this last part of the horseback riding tour. At the ranch we will board our bus and head back to Cusco. Travel time 10 minutes.
