This package will take you to Titicaca the highest navigable lake in the world, the ancient capital of the Inca empire Cusco, to the sacred valley that preserve remarkable Inca archaeology sites, you will take the train that run across mountain sides, until the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. We end this tour with a visit to the impressive Colca Canyon.

  • Day 1: Lima

    Arrival to Lima, Peru’s capital at any time during the day. Transfer from airport to the hotel by our Private van and a River Explorers assistant, who will give you tips on what to do in Lima and also will explain the flight itinerary and transfer time for your next day tour.

    Accommodation: Hotel in Lima.

    Day 2: Cusco

    Depending your flight time, we will transfer you to the airport to catch an scenic flight towards Cusco. Enjoy amazing views of the Andes together with snow capped mountains, Canyons, lake and lagoons throughout the entire flight. In Cusco airport our private van and river explorers representative will wait for your arrival and take you to your hotel.

    Check in at your hotel, and if you wish you can have a little walk around Cusco area. We recommend to take it easy this first day at Cusco so you can get properly acclimatized to the altitude, try no to make unnecessary efforts, drink a lot of water and avoid alcohol for the first 48 hours. You guide will have at all times a oxygen bottled in case is needed.
    Cusco City tour departures at 1 pm and included guided tours to the incredible fortress of Sacsayhuaman, the religious center of Qenqo, the complex of Puca Pucara and the famous Royal Inca bath at Tambomachay.

    Day 3: Sacred Valley.

    After breakfast, your Sacred Valley tour starts around 9 am, we will first drive towards Pisaq the first town in the sacred Valley. In the way, we will pass small towns built high in the Andes such as Qorao, Huancalle and Taray authentic Peruvian Andean villages, minutes after, we will arrive to the viewpoint of the Sacred Valley to enjoy the fantastic views that this place offers. The Valley is surrounding by snow capped mountains of Pitusiray, Sahuasiray, Veronica, Chicon located between 5000 to 6500 meters – 16404.2 to 21325,46 feet above sea level and the Urubamba River who transverse the whole entire valley, this river was the principal resource for agricultural purposes during the Incas time as its now for the locals.

    You will hike in an easy trail  for about 2 hours through Písac complex while your expert guide explains that history behind this place. This complex was built at a top of hill at the entrance to the Sacred Valley. The citadel are separated into four neighborhoods, including several number of bathes and temples. Intihuatana (The Temple of the Sun), suggest that it served as an astronomical calendar. Q’allaqasa, which is built onto a natural spur which gives a amazing view of the valley that is known as the citadel. The hillside is lined with terraces constructed by the Incas that still is in use today. These terraces were created by hand and served as an agricultural purposes. Pisaq is supposed to control a route of the Inca Empire with the border of the Amazon Jungle.

    We will drive back to Pisaq town after where we will stop for one hour in the popular Pisaq market where you can buy handicrafts and some other souvenirs.

    Once back again in the van, we continue our tour for about 40 minutes to stop at a beautiful restaurant to have a buffet lunch and thereafter, we continue driving to Ollantaytambo.

    Ollantaytambo is located at 2972 m – 9160 ft above sea level, this complex was the royal estate of Emperor Pachacutec who conquered this area and built the town with many temples, store houses, terraces, quarries, bathes and defenses some of the buildings have been extremely well carved so they fit perfectly into each other. The perfect asymmetrical stone walls are a unique feature in Ollantaytambo.

    At the time of the Spanish conquest Peru it served as a military resistant fortress for Inca Yupanqui, leader of the Inca resistance.

    The town of Ollantaytambo, is an Inca leaving city, the people owns many of the houses that was used in the past by our ancestors.

    After the guided tour in Ollantaytambo and depending the train time service, we will get ready to catch the train to Aguas Calientes (town bellow Machu Picchu), it will take one hour and 45 minutes to arrive; at the train station our personal will assist you and take you to the hotel. Enjoy the night by walking around Aguas Calientes or eating at a local restaurant.

    Day 4: Machu Picchu

    Get up early to enjoy the top destination in your Peru tour, Machu Picchu. In today’s tour there are two options; the first is for the adventurous, early in the morning you can hike for about two hours until Machu Picchu Citadel. The second choice is taking the bus for 30 minutes to Machu Picchu.

    Our guide will take you around the area for two hours guided tour in the wonders of this impressive complex. Machu Picchu citadel is located at 2430 m – 7972 ft above sea level and 80 km – 50 miles from Cusco the Inca capital. This amazing complex was never found by the Spanish and consequently not destroyed, as it was in the case with many other Inca sites. Over the years, the surrounding jungle grew over much of the site, and only local native people knew of its existence. On July 24 1911, Machu Picchu was discovered by Hiram Bingham.

    Machu Picchu was constructed in a classical Inca style, with polished stone walls. This complex has three primary buildings the Intihuatana (hitching point of the sun), the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows, all these located in the most sacred quarter of Machu Picchu.

    After the guided tour there will be plenty of time to take pictures, walk around the places that we like the most and then, we meet with the rest of the group at Aguas Calientes to catch the train to Ollantaytambo, and from there take a bus to the hotel in Cusco.

    Day 5: Puno

    Early morning we will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the bus station. Here we will catch a bus towards the flat lands of Puno. Including in this tour are visits to the many different archaeological site between Cusco and Puno.

    The highest pass on this drive will be La Raya (4313 m.), and go on through beautiful small Andean towns until we arrive to the Hotel in Puno. Once you drop the luggage and take a nice shower, you can have a nice walk around the city. After dinner, the Titicaca guide will give a briefing about your next program on your Peru tour

    Day 6-7: Lake Titicaca tour

    Get on board for an unforgettable travel experience. We will depart early in a motor boat, after 30 minutes we will arrive to Uros floating islands. You will step into the many of the islands where your guide will explain how the Uros people works the islands so this can keep a float. Continuing for 2 more hours, we will arrive to the Peninsula of Capachica, where we will have a soft 1 hour walk, through an original pre-Inca path; the views are spectacular, while enjoying the country side life.

    We will have a picnic lunch by the lake, after from we will continue by motor boat towards Ticonata Island. At arrival, we will be welcome by the community, and be leaded to our accommodation at the Ticonata Eco – Village. This place is formed by typical conical houses which are a copy of the pre –Incan houses on the area, the thatched roofs give the island a unique character. In the afternoon if you wish we can have a short hike to the ancient ritual place at the top of the hill, that still is in use by the locals for theirs authentic ancestral ceremonies. Sunsets are spectacular to watch once at this place.

    This program is a sustainable project that involves people of a community that shares all the benefits and work equally between its members. Later, we will have a typical dinner, bonfire and native dances preformed by the islanders, where you can feel and breathe the essence of folklore and culture. Here one of the wise man will tell us about their magic world and traditions, and the locals will tell us from firsthand how the daily life and traditions are. While, enjoying the milky way stars. Meals include (Breakfast-lunch-dinner)

    The second day, after an early breakfast, we will be back in the boat towards Amantani island, it will take 2 to 3 hours depending of weather and season. On Amantani Island, we will visit the Village and have a pleasant soft walk while our guide is explaining the culture and traditions of the locals. Lunch is served at a local house and you’ll have some time to learn about the culture and people. We will return later to Puno city, arrival at 4.30 pm approximately.

    Accommodation day 6: Guest house.
    Meals Included: 2 breakfasts – 2 lunches.

    Day 8-9: Colca Canyon

    We will depart from Puno around 8 am for a 5 hours scenic drive to Chivay, small little in the Colca Canyon. The drive traverses lake and lagoons, mountains, villages and birds, herd of vicunas, alpacas and llamas are easily visible along the way. In Chivay you will have a lunch and then check into your hotels. In the afternoon, enjoy walking through the streets of this town, visit the Plaza de Armas or the local market, you can also have an small hike out in the hills from Chivay or enjoy the thermal baths of Calera.

    During the second day, your guide will take you in our private van to Cruz del Condor, the best view point in the Colca Canyon. South of Peru lies the amazing Colca Canyon. Twice as deep as the Grand Canyon in North America this place attract locals and visitors from all over the world. With its 13,100 feet height from the Colca riverbed to the top of the cliff  Colca canyon is considered one of the deepest in the world. Admire this impressive natural formation together with the many condors gliding over the canyon looking for food. Condors are the worlds heaviest bird and one of the largest, so seeing them flying is something out of this world.

    After this we will go to Arequipa.

    Accommodation day 6: Guest house.

    Day 10: Lima

    Transfer to Arequipa airport to catch a flight to Lima and connect with your flight to your home country.

    Transfers: All transfer inside Peru after your arrival. Is not included in the price transfer from the Airport to the hotel the day at your arrival and the last day when you leave Peru. This can be arranging for 20 USD dollars per person.

    Hotels and meals during the days that passengers want to stay in Cusco, Puno or any of the cities, instead of continuing with the trips..

    Transfer from the Airport to the hotel the day at your arrival and the last day when you leave Peru. This can be arrange for 20 USD dollars per person

    What to bring?

    Weather can be different in Peru because the Andean mountains, we recommend to bring some warm clothes especially if you travel during May to September the early mornings and nights in Cusco and Puno can be very cold.

    Any other items that you wish to pack are at your own discretion however you should attempt to comply with the suggested luggage weight limit.

    Travel documents: passport, visas, travel insurance certificate, air tickets (with photocopies).

    Any vaccination certificates required

    Money: traveller’s cheques/cash/credit or debit card, money belt

    First-aid kit (should contain lip salve, aspirin, band Aids, anti-histamine, Imodium or similar tablets for mild cases of diarrhea, re-hydration powder, extra prescription drugs you may be taking).

  • Peru tour – prices and hotels

    Our trip prices are based on double occupancy hotel rooms and lodges. If you are travelling alone and wish to share, we will assign a same-sex roommate if one is available, but if for example there are 5 in the group and he/she does not have any one to share, we will pay the expenses to cover the hotel room price. If you wish to have your own room, you need to pay extra to cover the expenses of the room. If you wish you can always upgrade your hotel category, ask for more information.
